What is the format of the TOEIC test?
TOEIC Listening and Reading
The TOEIC Listening and Reading test is a paper-based, multiple-choice test. It has two separately timed sections of 100 questions each.
TOEIC Speaking and Writing
The TOEIC Speaking and Writing test is a computer-based test. It has two separately timed sections. The Speaking section has 11 questions and the Writing section had eight.
How long does the TOEIC test take?
TOEIC Listening and Reading
The test takes about 2 ½ hours, with: 45 minutes for the Listening section, 75 minutes for the Reading section and approximately 30 minutes to answer a background questionnaire
TOEIC Speaking and Writing
The test takes about 1 ½ hours, with: 20 minutes for the Speaking section, 60 minutes for the Writing section and approximately 10 minutes for check-in process
How do I register for the TOEIC test?
There are three ways to register for the TOEIC public test:

In person: at a TOEIC public test centre
How often can I take the TOEIC test?
The TOEIC public test is offered monthly. You can take the test each month.
What do I need to bring on the day of my test?
Admission ticket: located in your ETS Canada online account
ID: A valid passport or Canadian driver’s license. (No other forms of identification will be accepted.)
What time do I need to arrive on the day of my test?
Arrival times vary by test centre.
Vancouver: 8:30 amVictoria, Calgary, Edmonton: 9:00 am
Toronto: 11:30 am
Montreal, Hamilton, Mississauga: 12:00 pm
*If your test centre is not listed above please arrive at the test centre 30 minutes before the test time.
What if I want to change my test date?
Test registrations are non-transferable and there are no refunds once you have registered for a test. You cannot change the test date or test location.
What if I am absent of test day?
Test registrations are non-transferable and there are no refunds once you have registered for a test. There are no refunds if you miss a scheduled test. If you miss a test due to illness you must provide us with a copy of your doctor’s note within 5 business days to re-schedule or receive a credit for your missed test.
Why should I upgrade to a Premium Pack?
With a Premium Pack your TOEIC Listening and Reading score will be posted to your ETS Canada online account within five business days of the test. You will also receive an additional three Score Reports.
Can I view my TOEIC score online?
Yes. Your TOEIC Listening and Reading scores will be available for you to view in your ETS Canada online account when you purchase a Premium Pack.
When will I get my test results?
TOEIC Listening and Reading
Results are mailed within one week of the test date. In Canada, you should receive your results within four weeks. For overseas mailing, please allow eight weeks for delivery. Click here for a detailed chart of delivery dates

*It is the examinee’s responsibility to ensure the mailing address is complete and correct. ETS Canada is not responsible for results that are undeliverable, lost or unclaimed.
Can my results be forwarded to an organization/association?
Yes. There is a $20 fee to send your TOEIC results to an organization/association.
Can I order another Certificate or Score Report?
Yes. You can order them by logging into your ETS Canada online account and selecting the test session in which you want the test results reprinted. Each Certificate is $30 and each score report is $20.
How long is my TOEIC score valid?
TOEIC scores are valid for two years. Certificates and Score Reports will not be re-issued if two years have passed since the test date.
